10th OBES Scientific Congress

Welcome Message

Dear Colleagues,

2025 marks a major milestone for the Obesity, Endocrine & Bariatric Societies’ (OBES) Scientific Congress — the 10th anniversary of our unique three-society partnership.

Over the past decade, we have witnessed tremendous progress in understanding obesity as a complex disease and in recognising its far-reaching impact beyond weight alone. These insights have contributed to the development of novel therapeutic modalities and strategies. Yet, despite these advances, the prevalence of obesity in Singapore and globally has continued to rise, outpacing scientific progress.

Today, global innovations and artificial intelligence are transforming the way medicine is practiced and reshaping how patients engage with healthcare. For our community — committed to advocating for and caring for people living with obesity — it is timely that we gather to address these emerging challenges and chart the course ahead. Our theme for this year’s Congress, “Revolutionising Obesity Care for Healthier Lives,” embodies this shared mission.

We are honoured that the 10th OBES Scientific Congress will be convened alongside two prestigious meetings: the World Congress of Endoscopic Surgery (WCES) and the Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia (ELSA) 2025. This convergence offers an exceptional platform to strengthen collaboration and exchange knowledge across specialties.

On behalf of the organising societies, we extend our heartiest invitation to join us for this world-class scientific exchange and to celebrate a decade of concerted effort in advancing obesity medicine and surgery in Singapore.
