ELSA - WCES 2025 MIS Championship

Be the Best in Suturing, Knotting, TAPP & More

The ELSA - WCES 2025 MIS Championship is a prestigious international competition designed to showcase and recognise excellence in Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) skills, including suturing, knot tying, and Transabdominal Preperitoneal (TAPP) hernia repair. The competition will be held on-site in Singapore as part of the 21st World Congress of Endoscopic Surgery (WCES) 2025, from 4 to 8 November 2025 at Suntec Singapore.

We look forward to welcoming the top 20 MIS teams from around the world to compete in Singapore and celebrate surgical excellence at ELSA - WCES 2025 MIS Championship!

Eligibility & Registration Process

  • Team Composition:
    • Each team must consist of three (3) primary participants.
  • Backup Members:
    • Up to two (2) additional members may be registered as backups.
  • Country Representation:
    • Each country may have only one (1) official team, which must be registered through their National Society.
  • International Invitations:
    • Within Asia, invitations will be circulated through ELSA Governors.
    • Outside Asia, invitations will be sent through National and Regional Societies.
  • ELSA Membership & WCES Registration:
    • All participants must be active ELSA members and registered for WCES 2025.
  • No Age or Graduation Year Restriction:
    • The competition is open to all eligible surgeons regardless of their age or years since graduation.
  • Organising Committee Restriction:
    • Members of the organising committee are not allowed to participate as contestants.

 

Selection Process & Final Invitations

  • Teams will be shortlisted based on a selection criteria spreadsheet, considering multiple evaluation points.
  • A final selection of 20 teams will be invited to compete in Singapore for the on-site championship.

 

Competition Format

  • Participants will be evaluated on essential MIS skills such as:
    • Suturing techniques
    • Knot tying proficiency
    • TAPP hernia repair procedures
    • Other advanced laparoscopic skills
  • The competition will be judged by a panel of renowned international experts.
  • The schedule and specific event details will be shared with registered teams before the competition.

 

Prizes & Recognition

  • The winning team will receive prestigious awards and benefits as described in the WCES 2025 website and official leaflet.
  • Top-performing teams will gain international recognition and opportunities for further training and collaboration within ELSA and global surgical communities.
