Dr. Siow Sze Li is Director of Surgical and Emergency Services at Sarawak General Hospital and Head of General Surgery and Day Care Services. He is the Immediate Past President of the College of Surgeons, Academy of Medicine of Malaysia. A consultant surgeon specializing in minimally invasive gastrointestinal, bariatric, hernia, and robotic surgery, he completed advanced laparoscopic fellowships in France under Professor Jean-Louis Dulucq.
He holds an MBBS from Monash University, a Master of Surgery from the University of Malaya, MRCS (Edinburgh and Ireland), and fellowships including FACS, FRCS (Glasgow), FAMS (Singapore), and FAMM (Malaysia). He is an Honorary Fellow of the Association of Surgeons of India and the College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka.
Dr. Siow currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Minimally Invasive Surgery Chapter and Honorary Secretary of the Malaysian Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (MSMBS). He was previously Chapter Chair for Upper GI Surgery (2018–2021), a Founding Committee Member of the Malaysian Upper Gastrointestinal Surgical Society (MUGIS), and a Founding Committee Member of the Society of Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of Malaysia (SELSMA).
He is Adjunct Professor at Taylor’s University School of Medicine, and an instructor for the Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP). He also serves as examiner for the Intercollegiate MRCS and National Master of Surgery examinations. With more than 45 publications, he is dedicated to advancing minimally invasive surgery through research, education, and mentorship.
