Insoo Suh, MD, FACS is Professor of Endocrine Surgery at New York University (NYU) Grossman School of Medicine and NYU Langone Health, where he serves as the Vice Chair of Surgical Innovation, Director of the AAES-accredited Endocrine Surgery Fellowship Program, and Director of Minimally Invasive Endocrine Surgery. He is also the Chief of Endocrine Surgery at NYC Health+Hospitals/Bellevue. Dr. Suh obtained his undergraduate degree in molecular biochemistry and biophysics from Yale University, then completed medical school, surgical residency, and endocrine surgery research fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. He then completed a fellowship in biodesign innovation at Stanford University.
Dr. Suh is an internationally-recognized expert in endocrine surgical diseases of the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal. His clinical and research portfolio includes specific interest in the application of minimally-invasive techniques as well as novel imaging and surgical technologies to endocrine surgery. He is an initial pioneer in “scarless” transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy and parathyroidectomy, and is a recognized leader of this technique in the United States. Dr. Suh has authored over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, and serves on the editorial board for several peer-reviewed journals. He is an active member of several national organizations including the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, the American Thyroid Association, and the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Suh is also an inventor of novel medical innovations and proponent of academic entrepreneurship, with several patent applications to his name and multiple grants and startup companies to research and develop new technologies. He leads the Surgical Innovation Program in the NYU Department of Surgery, which trains the next generation of clinicians in med tech innovation.
