Clinical Assistant Professor Chue Koy Min is a Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Surgeon from Sengkang General Hospital and Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre, Singapore. Dr Chue graduated from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, with honours in 2014, being awarded the Oliveiro Memorial Gold Medal, Tan Choon Kim Book Prize, as well as being on the Dean’s List multiple times. He obtained the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2015 and the Master of Medicine (Surgery) from the National University of Singapore in 2018. During his surgical residency, he also undertook a postgraduate degree cumulating in a Master of Science (Surgical Sciences) with the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, University of Edinburgh, where he graduated with distinction in 2017. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (General Surgery) and was accredited as a Specialist in General Surgery, Singapore in 2021, being awarded the College of Surgeons Gold Medal for being the best performing candidate for the fellowship examinations in 2021. In 2022, he was conferred the Fellowship of the European Board of Surgery in Minimally Invasive Surgery and was also awarded the Top-Class Awards, now for being the best performing candidate in the European Fellowship examinations. In 2023, he was also awarded the prestigious Young Surgeons’ Award from the College of Surgeons, Singapore.
His clinical interests are in translational research in bariatric and metabolic surgery, minimally invasive surgery, as well as malignant esophagogastric disorders. He is the recipient of the Singhealth Surgery ACP (Budding Researcher) Grant, Sengkang General Hospital Internal Research Grant, Singhealth Duke-NUS Regenerative Medicine and Cell Therapy Grant, Singhealth Duke-NUS Nurturing Clinician Scientist Award, Khoo Pilot Award and the prestigious National Medical Research Council Research Training Fellowship. He was awarded the Toh Kian Chui PhD Research Scholarship in 2023 to pursue a PhD with the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University, to understand how the gut metagenome and metabolome can influence bariatric surgery outcomes.
