Dr. Vimal Kumar is a consultant general surgeon with nearly two decades of expertise in laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery, currently based at Gleneagles Medical Centre in Penang, Malaysia. As President of SELSMA and a Board Governor of ELSA, he leads regional initiatives—organizing workshops, delivering hands-on training and fostering collaboration to elevate laparoscopic care. His research spans bariatric, vascular access and oncology surgery, aimed at advancing innovative techniques that sustainably improve patients' quality of life. Dr. Vimal’s contributions have been recognized twice for Excellence in Civil Service awards from the Malaysian government, reflecting his commitment to medical education and patient care. An experienced international speaker, he has shared his expertise at over 20 conferences throughout India, Japan, Malaysia and China. Driven by mentorship, innovation and excellence, Dr. Vimal remains dedicated to mentoring the next generation of surgeons, advancing minimally invasive techniques and ultimately enhancing patient outcomes.
