 
         
        
            
        
            Dr Tan Bo Chuan graduated from National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 2009 and further obtaining Master of Medicine (Surgery) from National University of Singapore  (NUS) in 2016.  He completed General Surgery residency training with National Healthcare Group (NHG) Singapore. He obtained fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburg and accredited by Specialist Accreditation Board (SAB) Singapore in 2017. 
In 2019, he was awarded Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) by Ministry of Health Singapore and did his fellowship in upper gastrointestinal surgery at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital focusing on minimally invasive gastric surgery. 
Prior to private practice, he was consultant surgeon at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and held leadership positions in the hospital for example Head of Upper Gastrointestinal & Bariatric Surgery and clinical director of Integrated Care for Obesity and Diabetes (ICOD). ICOD was honoured with NHG team recognition Gold award, highlighting  the importance  of  collaborative effort between surgeons, endocrinologist, nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists and nutritionists in taking care of patients with weight related concern and diabetes. 
Other than clinical works, he was clinical block lead (Surgery) for Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, National Technology University (NTU) Singapore and senior clinical lecturer for Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS). He was core faculty member for NHG General Surgery Program, in which he was involved  in mentoring and training of budding surgeons.
He is actively involved in medical professional societies locally and internationally. He serves as committee member for Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society of Singapore (OMSSS) and Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition of Singapore (SingSPEN). He is also a proctor for Fundamental of Laparoscopy Surgery, a joint educational laparoscopy programme by Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and American College of Surgeons (ACS). He has conducted multiple surgical conferences and surgery workshops to share knowledge and teach local / international surgeons. 
His areas of clinical interest are in minimal access gastrointestinal, bariatric, oncology surgery and endoscopy. Dr Tan is able to communicate fluently in English, Mandarin, Hokkien, Cantonese and Bahasa Melayu.
