Dr Saleem Ahmed​ graduated from Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2010 and was awarded the Gold Medal in medical ethics. He commenced General Surgery Residency Training in National Healthcare Group in 2010. ​He successfully completed his residency training in 2018 and undertook the Joint Speciality Fellowship Examination in General Surgery and was admitted as a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He successfully completed a Royal College of Surgeons accredited overseas fellowship in St Richard’s Hospital, United Kingdom as a senior clinical fellow in bariatric surgery. Dr Saleem is actively involved in clinical research as well as undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. He is the Program Director for Surgery-in-General residency, National Healthcare Group and assistant professor and surgical lead for Year 5 at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University of Singapore. Dr Saleem was awarded NHG teaching excellence award in 2021. He is the co-investigator for multiple clinical trials and has published multiple peer-reviewed manuscripts on gastric cancer, metabolic/bariatric surgery, and clinical innovation.
