Dr. Kohei Nakata, MD, PhD, is a surgeon-scientist at Kyushu University specializing in hepatopancreatobiliary surgery, with a focus on minimally invasive pancreatectomy. He is board-certified as an expert in hepato-biliary-pancreatic surgery by the Japanese Society of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery and holds the Endoscopic Surgical Skill Qualification from the Japan Society for Endoscopic Surgery. He has published extensively on pancreatic surgery and cancer. His research focuses on pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), particularly the role of the tumor microenvironment and cancer-associated fibroblasts in immune resistance. He has pioneered translational approaches integrating proteomics, spatial multi-omics, and CRISPR-based screening to identify novel therapeutic targets for immunotherapy. Dr. Nakata also serves as Director of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Endoscopy and Director of the Overseas Exchange Center (OVEX) at Kyushu University Hospital, actively promoting international collaboration and the global exchange of physicians especially Asian countries.
