DR RAAD ALMEHDI MBChB, MSc (Bagd), FRCS(Ed), FRACS, FICS, AM Senior Consultant surgeon Oman International Hospital Muscat – Sultanate of Oman Short CV Graduated with Honours from Baghdad University in Iraq. Practiced in Iraq, South East Asia (Malaysia and Singapore), Australia, Oman and UAE. Master in Clinical Immunology, Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Fellow of the Royal College of surgeons of Australasia. Australian Fellowship in General and Regional surgery in North Queensland and subsequent Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopy (Upper GI and Bariatric) at the Royal Brisbane Hospital. Associate Professor at the James Cook University in Queensland- and supervisor of training for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Head of department of surgery at Mackay Hospital in Queensland At the Royal Hospital in Muscat was Head of Dept. of General surgery and then in charge of the Upper GI and Bariatric unit at the same Department for nine years. In Abu Dhabi the UAE, was Head of Bariatric and Metabolic surgery at Burjeel medical city and then Chief Medical Officer and Head of surgery at Global Care hospital. Past Assistant Program Director for the Omani Surgical Specialities Board and head of the Research and Simulation subcommittees. Founder and past Chair of the Omani Obesity and Metabolic surgery Interest group , Member of the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia , Fellow of the International college of surgeons as well as of regional and international surgical societies ( e.g EAES, IGCA, IFSO, ANZGOSA) Held the positions of Governor of the Endo Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia (ELSA) and the International College of Surgeons (ICS) for 13 years.
