His team Ugale Bariatrics, is the 2nd in the world to start Laparoscopic Ileal Interposition for Type-2 Diabetes in 2008 and introduced a new scoring system, Diabetes Severity & Remission Score, in 2013; he has 43 publications and 8 Book chapters in national and international journals and books.
SAGES gave him the "International Ambassador Award" in 2020.
Also received the "Great Contributor Award" for Pioneering work and completing 30 years of Laparoscopic Surgery in India, from Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI) in Nov.2021; He was Associate Editor of Journal of Bariatric Surgery (JBS).
