DR MARKS SHORT BIO. Dr John H. Marks M.D FACS, FASCRS is an acclaimed international expert of minimally invasive and rectal cancer management. Dr Marks is the James Widener Ray Chair of colorectal surgeon and professor at the Lankenau Medical Center and Institute of Medical Research outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA. His professional passions include laparoscopic and robotic colorectal surgery and sphincter preservation for rectal cancer. He has performed over 3000 laparoscopic colectomies and has one of the largest experiences in the world of single port robotic surgery. These approaches have been applied in the treatment and care of the full spectrum of colorectal diseases. His contributions in rectal cancer management and sphincter preservation have helped push the field to expand organ preservation for rectal cancer with low recurrence rate and high survival. His enthusiasm for surgical education led him to establish a fellowship in minimally invasive colorectal surgery and rectal cancer management 25 years ago at Lankenau Medical Center. Dr Marks is proudest, however, in trainees who have taken on prominent roles in the field of colorectal surgery nationally and internationally.
